Indian cricket team’s all-rounder R Ashwin said goodbye to international cricket. He said this after the second match of the five-Test series between India and Australia was drawn.
However, this became evident when Virat Kohli and R Ashwin got emotional in the dressing room, and Kohli hugged Ashwin. The second match in Brisbane was repeatedly interrupted due to rain and eventually ended in a draw.
After the match was over, all-rounder Ashwin attended a press conference with captain Rohit Sharma and announced his retirement. In the press conference, Ashwin said that today is my last day as an Indian cricketer in all formats and at the international level.
” On the same x, Ashwin also posted and wrote that after a lot of thinking, I have decided to announce retirement from Test cricket. Representing India has been an incredible journey filled with unforgettable moments. Thank you to my teammates, coaches, BCCI and most of all the fans for their unwavering support. Looking forward to new challenges ahead but Test cricket will always have a special place in my heart”

All-rounder R Ashwin has taken 537 wickets in 106 Test matches, including 37 five-wicket hauls and 8 10-wicket hauls. Ashwin has also scored 6 centuries in batting.
Ashwin is India’s second highest wicket-taker, behind Anil Kumble who has taken 953 wickets. Ashwin’s highest haul in a Test innings is 7 wickets for 59 runs. While playing 106 Tests, Ashwin has won the Player of the Series title 11 times, which is the highest by any player.
Ashwin will be seen in IPL
He will be seen playing for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is set to be held in 2025. Ashwin has been bought by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL auction.
