Host Pakistan’s Champions Trophy journey ends without a single win

Pakistan, the host team of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, was to face Bangladesh in its last match of the tournament today. This match was scheduled to be held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. But due to continuous rain, this match was cancelled without a toss.

As a result, Pakistan and Bangladesh got 1 point each. Due to today’s match being cancelled because of rain, both teams have been eliminated from the tournament. In this tournament, both teams have not registered a single win in any of the matches they have played.

The Bangladesh team finished third with one point and a net run rate of -0.44, having suffered two losses and one no-result in three matches. At the same time, the Pakistan team finished fourth with a net run rate of -1.09. Pakistan suffered defeats against New Zealand and India, while Bangladesh also lost to these two teams.

India and New Zealand have qualified for the semi-finals from Group A.

As a result, the race for the semi-finals in Group B of the Champions Trophy remains intense. The washed-out match between Australia and South Africa, along with Afghanistan’s victory against England, has turned the race into a three-way contest. Australia, South Africa, and Afghanistan are still in the race, while England is out. The matches between Australia and Afghanistan and South Africa and England have now become very important.

If we look at the list of the top five run-scorers in the tournament, no player from Pakistan is included. England’s Ben Duckett is at the top. He has scored 203 runs in 2 matches. Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran is at number two. He has scored 203 runs in two matches. Joe Root is in third place with 188 runs, Tom Latham is in fourth place with 173 runs, while India’s vice-captain Shubman Gill is in fifth place with 147 runs in 2 matches.

In the list of leading wicket-takers, Azmatullah Omarzai is in first place with six wickets in two matches. New Zealand’s Mitchell Bracewell is in second place with five wickets in two matches, while Will O’Rourke has also taken five wickets in two matches and is in third place. India’s Mohammed Shami is in fourth place with five wickets in two matches, while Harshit Rana is in fifth place with four wickets in two matches.
