Australia Clinches Border-Gavaskar Trophy After 10 years

On Sunday in Sydney, the last and final test match of the 5-match series of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy played between India and Australia, Australia defeated India 3-1 and won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series of 2024-25. With this, the Australia team won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a gap of 10 years and made it to the final match of the World Test Championship for the second time in a row.

In the fifth match of the series, Australia defeated India by 6 wickets. The final match of Sydney was reduced to just 3 days. India after winning the toss and batting first, Team India was all out for 185 runs in the first innings. Australia also collapsed for 181 runs in the first innings, and this gave India a lead of 4 runs. Playing the second innings, Team India was all out for 157 runs. With this, Australia got a target of 162 runs to win, which the Kangaroo team easily achieved by losing only 4 wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah is the player of the series

India lost the series to the Australian team, but Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been chosen as the best player of the series. But due to the poor performance of the players, Team India had to face defeat in the series.

The decision to bat first after winning the toss proved wrong for Team India. Batting first, the first wicket of Team India fell in the form of KL Rahul at 11 runs and the second wicket fell in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal at 17 runs. In which KL Rahul returned to the pavilion after scoring only four runs and Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to the pavilion after scoring 10 runs. At the same time, as the third wicket, Shubhman Gill returned to the pavilion after scoring only 20 runs, with this the top order of Team India collapsed.
