The England Cricket Team (ECB) announced their playing XI for the first T20I match against India. The first T20I match will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday at 7 PM sharp.
The opening pairs for England will be done by Phil Salt, along with Ben Duckett, in Kolkata. In the first match of the T20 series, Phil Salt will lead as a captain instead of skipper Jos Butler of the 20-over series.
Earlier today, Harry Brook was announced as a vice-captain for the T20I series against India. Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, and Harry Brook batted, lined up for the middle order. Jacob Bethell has also been added to the Three Lions’ playing eleven. He played the last T20I match in November 2024. Jamie Overton will also take part in the 20-over match at Eden Gardens.
Gus Atkinson, Jofra Archer, and Mark Wood will be the pacers selected for the Three Lions. At the same time, Adil Rashid will be the only spinner in the playing eleven.
With firepower in both bat and ball, Brendon McCullum has named his first white-ball squad for tomorrow’s opening IT20 against India,” the ECB announced on X.
From Wednesday, the first match of the T20I series begins on 22 January at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The 2nd match will take place on 25 January at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. On 28 January, the 3rd match will be scheduled at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. The 4th and final matches will be played on 31 January and 2 February at Maharashtra Cricket Stadium in Pune and Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, respectively.
