UP Warriorz Women triumphed over Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women by a comprehensive margin in the 18th Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 match with the help of a brilliant 99-run performance by Georgia Voll. The Warriorz posted an authoritative batting display before their bowlers clinched a thumping victory, thereby cementing their position in the tournament.
Batting first, UP Warriorz put up a formidable score, with Georgia Voll’s mesmerising innings taking centre stage. She was one run short of a century and equalled the second-highest individual score in WPL history. Grace Harris gave a dynamite start with a 39-run rampage from 22 deliveries, while Kiran Navgire’s whirlwind knock of 46 off 16 balls added to RCB’s agony. The burst of boundaries from the UPW batters, in the form of sixes from Navgire and Harris, took the team beyond the 200-run barrier.
The RCB bowlers found it tough to control the free-scoring stroke play. Though Wareham and Charlie Dean took crucial wickets, including those of Navgire and Chinelle Henry, they were unable to curb the flow of runs. Perry and Renuka Singh also struggled with similar issues as UPW kept pushing ahead throughout the match.
Pursuing 211, RCB collapsed early and never regained momentum. Smriti Mandhana and Ellyse Perry tried to stabilise the innings, but regular blows by the Warriorz bowlers tore down their pursuit. Deepti Sharma’s quick run-out in the last over left Voll stranded on 99, rounding off a disappointing evening for RCB.
Charlie Dean concluded the innings in style for UPW, cleaning up the tail and securing a comprehensive victory. The win strongly improves UP Warriorz’s standing in the table. while leaving RCB with a tall order to remain in playoff contention.
“With this emphatic victory, UP Warriorz have announced themselves as title contenders.” RCB, however, needs to urgently patch up their weaknesses and reorganise for their next match as the playoff battle heats up in the second half of the tournament.
