On 20 February 2025, in the second match of the Champions Trophy, India delivered a magnificent performance to secure a 6-wicket victory against Bangladesh.
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. Despite losing five wickets in the powerplay, which was a major setback, the middle order staged a strong comeback. Tanzid Hridoy’s century (100) and Jaker Ali’s 68 helped Bangladesh post a total of 228 runs on the board. Mohammed Shami’s five-wicket haul and Harshit Rana’s three-wicket spell played a crucial role in restricting Bangladesh to this total.
For India, Shubman Gill’s splendid unbeaten century (101)* earned him the Man of the Match award. Additionally, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul contributed with 41 runs each, playing key roles in successfully chasing the target of 229 and leading India to victory.

Although Virat Kohli scored 22 runs in today’s match, he was expected to surpass the 14,000-run milestone in ODIs. However, he remains 15 runs short of this achievement.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma crossed the 11,000-run mark in ODIs during today’s match against Bangladesh.
Looking ahead, India’s next match is a highly anticipated clash against Pakistan, scheduled for Sunday, February 23.
