India set to clash with Australia in high-stakes CT 2025 semi-final today

India secured a spot in the semi-finals after successfully defending a target of 250 runs against New Zealand in Dubai on March 2, 2025, during the Champions Trophy. India advanced to the semi-finals unbeaten, finishing at the top of the table with 6 points.

Now the team is ready to face Australia in the semi-finals for the first time after World Cup 2023 in Dubai on 4 March 2025, while New Zealand will be playing against South Africa in Lahore on 5 March 2025. The winning teams will then play the finals on March 9, 2025.

The players in the India squad include Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, K L Rahul, Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, and Muhammad Shami.

The players in the Australia squad include Steve Smith (Captain), Travis Head, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Inglis (WK), Alex Carey, Glenn Maxwell, Tanveer Sangha, Nathan Ellis, Spencer Johnson, and Adam Zampa.

The India-Australia rivalry is one of the most intense yet respectful battles in cricket. Both countries have faced each other 295 times in total, of which Australia won 143 and India won 110. India and Australia have faced each other 151 times in international ODI cricket. Among these matches, Australia has won 84 matches while India has won 57. However, the results of the other 10 led to a match draw.

India and Australia have faced each other four times before 2025—twice in semi-finals, where India won both encounters, and twice in the group stage, where Australia won once, and the other match ended in a tie.

India and Australia are among the most dominant teams in world cricket. Their encounters consistently rank among the most-watched matches in the sport.

Can India maintain its unbeaten run, or will Australia break their streak?
