Pat Cummins likely to be ruled out of champions trophy

The alpha captain of Australia may have to miss his flight to the Champions Trophy. It’s been speculated that Pat Cummins, who recently brought glory to the Australian team by winning the BGT, has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy because of an ankle injury.

As for now, a replacement has not been found. Previously, Mitchell Marsh was also ruled out of the upcoming Champions Trophy, which is likely to happen in Pakistan.

Pat Cummins is known for his never-giving-up attitude and, most famously, for silencing the loud crowd. It’ll be difficult for Australia to find his replacement, and surely, he’ll be missed on the ground. The decision-making ability of Cummins has rewarded many series and trophies to Australia BGT, where he led Australia to come back from the first loss.

In his recent interview, Australian coach Andrew McDonald had said that he’ll be looking at Travis Head and Steven Smith for leadership replacements. Steven Smith has already had leadership experience; on the other hand, Travis Head is known for his attacking approach. He was the hero behind the one-day World Cup of 2023.

Noted contribution of Pat Cummins in BGT was snatching 25 wickets throughout the series and contributing 159 runs with the bat. The all-round performance of Pat Cummins had a major role in giving stability to the team and giving freedom to players to play the game freely.

The Australian team will inaugurate its game against their archrival England on Feb 22 in the 4th match of group B. The match will be held at the Mohammad Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
