The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has provided a platform to several budding cricketers aspiring to make a name for themselves in the cricketing world. Aniket Verma, one such uncapped player nabbed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise (SRH) in the IPL 2025 mega auction, has been making headlines for his explosive batting style.
The 23-year-old lost his mother at an early age and was raised by his uncle, Amit Verma, in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Born on February 5, 2002, in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, he moved to his own house after his mother’s death. At the quite young age of 10, Verma joined the Railway Youth Academy under coach Nandjit Singh to begin playing cricket. He later joined the Faith Academy to further hone his skills, refining techniques to make a potential professional career in the sport.
Aniket’s performance in the divisional tournament match against Chennai in 2021, in which he scored an impressive total of 407 runs, garnered significant attention. The following year, Aniket represented Bhopal Leopards in the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL), displaying extraordinary skills. He scored the first and fastest century in the tournament against Malwa Panthers during the MPL.
Aniket made his T20 debut in December 2024, playing for Madhya Pradesh against Hyderabad in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The IPL scouts monitored his consistency throughout the matches, which eventually led to his acquisition by Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹30 lakh in the 2025 IPL auction. This marked an achievement for Bhopal Division Cricket Association (BDCA) as well since Verma became the first player to reach the IPL stage while representing the BDCA.
Aniket’s aggressive batting style was first witnessed when he scored a hard-hitting score of 46 runs just off 16 balls in an intra-squad practice match, making him a valuable asset for the SRH team squad.
